Blind Spot of Denial

Last Updated on 17 June 2009 by gerry

I went to a pub that I used to frequent
With songs for the singing, no sins to repent
When my eyes opened you flashed me a smile
You flushed me right out and exposed my denial

I can’t hide, but I can deny, I can deny
The man inside who feels 25 ‘cos he feels 25

Somethin’ inside me was kicking like a lamb
A realisation I am who I am
Not really certain were we flirtin’ or not
I’m inside looking out and that’s a rather blind spot

I can’t hide, but I can deny, I can deny
The man inside who feels 25 ‘cos he feels 25
The years don’t lie with no alibi, no alibi

You were gone and the end of you
Started a feeling of deja vu
And then it hits me, it hits me real slow
My courtin’ days here were 20 years ago

I can’t hide, but I can deny, I can deny
The man inside who feels 25 ‘cos he feels 25
All the years don’t lie with no alibi, no alibi
The tears I’ve cried, invariably dry, unbearably, unbearably dry
